Colombian Hammocks

From the golden beaches of the Caribbean to the magnificent highlands of the Andes, we will meet hammocks that have become a permanent part of Colombian culture. Colombian Hammocks are characterized by hand-braided "cadejos" braids, vivid colors and 100% handmade. It is in Colombia that you can see the oldest hammock from the seventh century, made of pure gold.

The warm and humid climate in Colombia is conducive to the cultivation of cotton, from which local craftsmen make many everyday objects, including hammocks. In order to create a hanging bed that would protect them from reptiles and troublesome insects, the Colombians made a simple piece of cotton furniture known to this day as a hammock.
