Garden Hammocks

In principle, any hammock can be hung in the garden, so what are the typical garden hammocks? Apart from those dedicated to tourism, in fact each model can be used as a piece of garden furniture, and the right division can be made based on the individual preferences of users and the materials from which the hammocks are made. There are two basic types of hammocks:

With a bar – in these hammocks, the surface of the material is more taut, so it is perfect for people who like to sunbathe, but they will be less suitable for sleepyheads.

Without a bar – this type of hammocks collapses much more under the weight of the user during use, creating a kind of cocoon. A hammock without a bar will be a great choice for people who like to sleep outdoors. (This model is definitely more popular)

Both types of hammocks mentioned above can be further divided based on the type of material they are made of. There are three basic types of material used in the production of hammocks:

Cotton – In addition to being natural and environmentally friendly, it is also very soft and pleasant to the touch. In addition, if it is undyed, it is conducive to people suffering from skin allergies. When choosing a cotton hammock for the garden, it should be remembered that it should be protected from external factors and, above all, from heavy rain, therefore we do not recommend it to people who are not able to take care of its proper protection at all times or are simply lazy by nature:)

Polyester – This material is definitely not natural, which of course has its pros and cons. The pros include very low water absorption, elasticity, high resistance to stains and dirt, and color fastness. The downside of polyester is very low breathability, much less pleasant touch and chemical composition. By choosing a polyester hammock as a piece of garden furniture, we can safely leave it suspended for the whole season in the open air in any (un)weather, without fear of damaging it.

Blends – Every respected hammock manufacturer has patented a material that is roughly a blend that has the properties of cotton and synthetic fibers (polyester or polypropylene). They are pleasant to the touch and soft while maintaining resistance to external factors. Hammocks made of this type of material deserve to be called garden hammocks to the greatest extent, but it should be remembered that the materials vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and you should learn as much as possible about the properties of the hammock before buying. It cannot be assumed in advance that such a hammock is 100% resistant to external factors and weather conditions.

Summarizing:

A hammock with a spreader bar or a classic hammock, made of cotton, synthetic fibres or patented material blends – each can be used as a garden hammock. Before buying, you should think about what you expect from a hammock and what conditions prevail in your garden or arranged space around the house.
